A heat number is a unique identification code which signifies the origin of materials. Heat number is used for inspection, tracing, and quality assurance. Heat number is usually stamped on the edges of metal plates and pipes.

Heat number and indicated heat number properties

  1. On the Home page, click Site > Setup > Heat Numbers.

  2. Click Add Row.

  3. Type Heat Number and Certificate Number.

  4. Optionally, type Manufacturer and File Location.

  • Multiple certificate numbers can be assigned to a heat number.

  • The heat number and certificate number combination must be unique within a project.

  1. To attach properties to the heat numbers, click Properties and do the following:

    1. Click Add Row.

    2. Select a property group from the Group list.

    3. Select a property from the Property list.

    4. Select a value from the Value list.

    SHARED Tip Alternately, click Add Property Set, select a Property Set and then click Copy to copy the property set to the group.
