You should define glossary-language mappings if you want to use glossaries in multiple languages. For each language you would define a mapping for a glossary.

Furthermore, the glossary-language mappings can be used to restrict the available glossaries. If at least one mapping is defined, the mappings are displayed in the Language box on the Login page instead of the glossaries, and thus only the glossaries having a glossary-language mapping are available for selection. If no mapping is defined, the glossaries are shown in the Language box

With the selection of the mapping you specify the glossary and the language that is used in the Smart Materials Web session.

  • If you have not defined any glossary-language mapping, all glossaries are available for selection on the Smart Materials Web Login page.

  • The glossary assigned to DBA setting BI_REPORT_GLOSSARY is displayed and selected by default.

  • The selected glossary is applied in the language that is defined with DBA setting BI_REPORT_LANGUAGE.

To create glossary-language mappings proceed as follows:

  1. From the Home page, select Administration > Glossary - Language Mappings.

  2. Click Add Row.

  3. Type a mapping name in the Mapping cell.

The mapping names are displayed in the Language list on the Login page.

  4. Select a glossary from the Primary Glossary list.

  5. Optionally, select an alternative glossary from the Secondary Glossary list.

  6. Select a Language from the list.

The glossary will be applied with the selected language.

  7. Select Default if this mapping should be displayed on the Login page by default.

  8. Select MATERIALS in the Module cell to make this mapping available in Smart Materials Web, or select PORTAL to make it available in Smart Materials Portal.

  9. Click Save.

When a mapping is selected on login, the assigned glossaries are used with the specified language to translate prompts that are displayed in Smart Materials Web or Smart Materials Portal. If the secondary glossary is specified, a prompt is first searched in the primary glossary and if not found then in the secondary glossary. If a prompt could not be found in any assigned glossary, the default prompt is displayed.
