When a scan fails or there is an issue with the application, the Sync screen displays the number of issues. You will also receive a direct notification when a scan fails in each of the main functions. The software also provides information when the mobile application is unable to connect to the server.

Sync Tile - Home Page

From the Home screen, tap Sync tile, to see scans or other activities that have not been submitted to the Rest API Server.

  • When the network connection changes from offline to online, tap Sync now to refresh and submit the scans and other pending requests to the Rest API Server.

  • The online indicator does not work on a browser based version of MobileScan. The software always indicates that the application is online.

The following example illustrates a failed scan indicating that the barcode that was scanned does not match any material assigned to the user in Smart Materials.

When the mobile does not have an internet connection, the Sync screen displays an error message, Unable to connect to Internet/Server.

Sync now is used to resend errors in Smart Materials MobileScan to Smart Materials. Sync now is also used to send data from the device to the server when the device goes from Offline (disconnected from internet or network) mode to Online (connected) mode.

To delete errors that have been detected, tap Delete .

The Sync function also saves all the scans when processing an MIR or MRR.With the auto-sync function all scans will be automatically sent to Smart Materials, and any resulting errors will be displayed on the Sync screen. Sync should be checked periodically to check for any potential errors.

When conducting a scan in any of the main functions and an error occurs you will be notified after 2 seconds. The error will show first the function that was in use, what caused the error, and what the error was. See the bottom examples indicating a receive error and a transfer error.

Both the errors remain in the Sync screen until deleted either in the scan screen where they originated or in in the Sync screen.

If the sync log is empty you will not be able to tap Sync now as there is no data to send between MobileScan and Smart Materials.
