Barcode generation and printing - Intergraph Smart Materials - Version 5.0 SP1 (5.0.1) - Help - Hexagon PPM

Smart Materials MobileScan has been designed to internally create barcodes for materials found in Smart Materials using the Barcode Manager. The barcodes must be unique to a project and can be used for just one ident per project. You can however use the same barcode in a different project. The software creates the barcodes in one of the following ways:

Barcode generation using a Company Initials and Shipment ID

Barcode Manager uses the first letters of the company name as specified in the configuration file (default.json) as a prefix and the shipment ID from the POs and RNs as a postfix to generate the barcode.

Example:

• If you use multiple application servers in your MobileScan environment, all the servers must use the same company name for generating the barcode. If you generate a barcode on one AppServer with CompanyName1, and try to scan the barcode on another AppServer that uses CompanyName2, MobileScan application would not be able to identify the barcode.

• Use the same company name when you upgrade MobileScan to a newer version.

Barcode generation using an Ident

Barcode Manager also uses the material ident code to generate the barcode.

The barcodes can then be viewed, printed, or exported in CSV format for commercial barcode printing. You can also import barcodes from manufacturers and associate them to a RN or PO.
