Purpose

This section explains how to specify the assembly structure.

Exercise

  1. Open the S.70.01 Build Assembly Structure screen from the Smart Reference Data > S.70 Specification menu branch.

  2. Select ASS-FLG from the LOV in the Short Code field, and enter 1 in the Option field. In the Inch line, enter 2 in the FromI1 field and 20 in the ToI1 field. These values define the assembly size range (2 ā€“ 20).

  3. Save the changes by clicking the Save button.

  4. On the Single Assembly Position tab, enter the first assembly item.

    The Flange Union assembly consists of three positions:

    Pos 1: 2 flanges

    Pos 2: 1 gasket

    Pos 3: 6 bolts .5*80 for size 2-6

    6 bolts .75*100 for size 8-12

    8 bolts 1*125 for size 14-20

  5. For the first position, enter 1 in the Pos field, select FLG from the LOV in the Short Code field, enter 1 in the Option field, enter 2 in the Quantity field, and select ea from the LOV in the Unit field.

  6. In the Inch line, enter 2 in the FromI1 field and 20 in the FromI2 field. The Input1-3 fields remain unchanged.

  7. Click the New Record button to create a new position.

  8. For the second position, enter 2 in the Pos field, select GSK from the LOV in the Short Code field, enter 1 in the Option field, enter 1 in the Quantity field, and select ea from the LOV in the Unit field.

  9. In the Inch line, enter 2 in the FromI1 field and 20 in the FromI2 field. The Input1 field remains unchanged; enter 0 (zero) in the Input2 and Input3 field.

  10. Click the New Record button to create a new position.

  11. For the third position, three records are needed. Enter 3 in the Pos field, select BLT from the LOV in the Short Code field, enter 1 in the Option field, enter 6 in the Quantity field, and select ea from the LOV in the Unit field.

  12. In the Inch line, enter 2 in the FromI1 field and 6 in the FromI2 field. Enter the bolt size .5 in the Input1 field and the bolt length 80 in the Input2 field. You can enter 0 (zero) in the Input3 field or leave the -3.

  13. Press the function keys F6 (new record) and F4 (duplicate record above) to create a duplicate of position 3. Enter 8 in the FromI1 field, 12 in the ToI1 field, .75 in the Input1 field, and 100 in the Input2 field.

  14. Press the function keys F6 and F4 again to create another duplicate of position 3. Enter 8 in the Quantity field, 14 in the FromI1 field, 20 in the ToI1 field, 1 in the Input1 field, and 125 in the Input2 field.

  15. Save the changes by clicking the Save button.

  16. Click the Multi Assembly Positions tab to get an overview of all the assembly child items.

  17. Close the screen by selecting File > Close All from the main menu.
