Purpose

This section explains how to specify a commodity geometric and how to create a commodity geometric relation.

Exercise

  1. Open the A.50.02 Tables screen from the Administration > A.50 Database Structure menu branch.

  2. Select Commodity Geometrics from the LOV in the Description field, and click the Run Query button to display the selected table type.

  3. Enter FLG-ASSEMB in the Name field and Flange Assemblies in the Short Desc and Description fields.

  4. Save the changes by clicking the Save button.

  5. Close the screen by selecting File > Close All from the main menu.

  6. Open the A.50.03 Tables/Attributes screen from the Administration > A.50 Database Structure menu branch.

  7. Select FLG-ASSEMB from the LOV in the Tablename field, and click the Run Query button to display the selected table.

  8. Click the Copy Attributes from Object Param. button. An LOV box opens. Select FLGASS from the LOV, and click OK. All attributes of the selected object parameter are assigned to the FLG-ASSEMB geometric table.

  9. Click in the Physical Attribute field of the ASS_NO attribute, click the List of Values button to open the LOV, select GD.IN5 from the list, and click OK.

  10. Save the changes by clicking the Save button.

  11. Close the screen by selecting File > Close All from the main menu.

  12. Open the S.40.12 Commodity Geometrics screen from the Smart Reference Data > S.40 Geometrics menu branch.

  13. Enter FLG-UNION in the Geometric field, select FLG-ASSEMB from the LOV in the Tablename field, and select ANSI from the LOV in the Standard field.

  14. Save the changes by clicking the Save button.

  15. Click the Next Block button to open Window 2.

  16. Enter the geometric details in the NPS1 and SCH1 fields according to the following list:

Leave the 0 (zero) in the ASS_NO field; otherwise, the assembly creation does not work.

  17. Save the changes by clicking the Save button.

  18. Close the screen by selecting File > Close All from the main menu.

  19. Open the S.40.21 Geometric Rules screen from the Smart Reference Data > S.40 Geometrics menu branch.

  20. Enter FLGASS in the Rule field, select NONE from the LOV in the Def. Formula field, and enter Flange Assembly in the Short Comment and Comment fields.

  21. In the second (Geometric Rule Definition) block, enter 1 in the No. field, select ASSEMBLY from the LOV in the Group field, and select FLG-UNION from the LOV in the Geometric field.

  22. Save the changes by clicking the Save button.

  23. Click the Commodity Relation button to create the pre-defined commodity geometric relation. A message appears as displayed in the picture below; click OK to continue.

  24. Close the screen by selecting File > Close All from the main menu.

  25. Open the S.40.22 Commodity Geometric Relations screen from the Smart Reference Data > S.40 Geometrics menu branch.

  26. Select ASSEMBLY from the LOV in the Group field, and click the Run Query button to display the selected group.

  27. Click the Next Block button two times to open Window 2. Here you can check the commodity geometric relations created in the previous step.

  28. Close the screen by selecting File > Close All from the main menu.
