A packing list is created by a packer. It lists the boxes to be delivered with this packing list and the assigned material receipts.

Packing lists and boxes are created and maintained on the P.80.21 Packing Lists and Boxes screen.

In the first (Packing Lists) block, you can define the packing lists. Enter the name (number) of the packing list in the Packing List field. The packing list type can be entered in the Type field. For example, enter Pallet, Case, Skid, or Carton as the type. The container for which the packing list is created can be selected from the LOV in the Container Number field. Containers are pre-defined on the P.80.23 Container Index screen.

The bill of lading number is displayed in the BOL Number field, the name of the carrier in the Carrier Name field, and enter the number of the voyage or the flight in the Voy or Flt Num field.

Select the destination of the transport from the LOV in the Destination field. Destinations are defined on the P.10.52 Destinations screen. The destination descriptions will be displayed in the Short Desc and Description fields.

You can enter a factor in the Factor field.

The container dimensions can be entered in the x Dimension, y Dimension, and z Dimension fields. The dimension unit is defined by project default ZX_DIM and displayed in the Dim Unit field.

The volume is calculated as the product of the entered dimensions and displayed in the Volume field. The volume unit is defined by the project default ZX_VOLUME and displayed in the Volume Unit field.

The Total Box Weight field shows the sum of all box weights entered in the second block. The sum is calculated for the unit defined by the project default ZX_WEIGHT. This unit is displayed in the Weight Unit field. If necessary, the box weights are converted to this weight unit, using the conversion factor defined on A.10.13 Unit to Unit. If this conversion factor is missing, a total weight of -1 is displayed.

The number of boxes assigned to the packing list in the second block is displayed in the Number of Boxes field.

In the second (Boxes) block, you can assign boxes to the selected packing list. A box means any vessel used to pack the material for shipment. For example, a box could be a crate, a carton, a barrel, a drum, a pallet, and so forth.

Enter the name (number) of the box in the Box Number field.

Enter the weight of the box in the Box Weight field, and enter the weight unit in the Weight Unit field. An LOV, which lists all units pre-defined on A.10.12 Units of Measure for the WEIGHT unit group, is available.

Enter the volume of the box in the Box Volume field, and enter the volume unit in the Volume Unit field. An LOV, which lists all units pre-defined on A.10.12 Units of Measure for the VOLUME unit group is available.

The dimensions of the box (x, y, z) can be entered in the Box Dimensions field.

Select the Hazardous indicator if the box contains hazardous material.

In the Comment field, you can enter a note for the box.

Double-click in the Box Number field to open window 2, where the line items of the selected box and the assigned box MR line items are displayed.

For information about the field descriptions, see Box Line Items.
