Milestones can be used for planning activities and calculating both expected and actual progress of the inquiry. Progress can be maintained for each activity. Based on this information, the actual progress for the complete inquiry is calculated. Based on the actual start and/or end date of an activity and the actual system date, the expected progress for each activity is also calculated.

Activities are maintained on the Inquiry Progress tab.

Enter the sequence in which the activities must be performed in the Seq field.

Select the milestone from the LOV in the Label field. Milestones are defined on the P.10.61 Milestone Labels screen.

Enter the weight factor of the milestone in the Weight Factor field. All weight factors assigned to the quote summary must add up to 100.

In the Forecasted Start field, you can use the LOV to select the date for which the start of this activity has been forecasted. This date must be before (or be equal to) the forecasted end date.

In the Forecasted End field, you can use the LOV to select the date for which the end of this activity has been forecasted.

The Expected Progress (%) field shows the expected progress for this activity based on the forecasted start date, the forecasted end date, and the actual date. If no forecasted start date or no forecasted end date has been entered, the expected progress is set to 0%. If the actual date is before the forecasted start date, the expected progress shows 0%. If the actual date is after the forecasted end date, the expected progress shows 100%. If the actual date is between the forecasted start and end date, the expected progress is calculated based on the actual date and the number of days required for this activity, using this formula:

(system date-start date)*100)/days, whereby days=forecasted end date-forecasted start date

If the forecasted end date has passed and the actual progress of this activity is not 100%, the background color of this field and of the expected progress summary changes to red.

Enter the actual progress of the activity in the Actual Progress (%) field. The overall progress of the inquiry is calculated based on this actual progress.

Select the date when the milestone actually ended from the LOV in the Actual End Date field. This date represents the date when an actual progress of 100% was reached.

Instead of entering single milestone labels, you can assign entire pre-defined milestone sets. Select the milestone set from the LOV in the Milestone Set field at the bottom of the screen and click the Copy button. The details (milestones) of this set will be assigned to the inquiry. Any milestone already attached to the inquiry will be kept. Milestone sets are defined on the P.10.62 Milestone Sets screen.

The Copy button will only be enabled after a milestone set is selected.

Generally, the weight factors entered on P.10.62 are copied over. But if milestones have already been assigned, the weight factors are set to zero so that they still add up to 100.

The fields beneath Expected Progress % and Actual Progress % display the overall expected progress and overall actual progress. The Overall Expected Progress field shows the expected progress of the inquiry. For the calculation, the expected progress of each activity (milestone) and its weight factor are considered. The progress is calculated with this formula:

sum ((expected progress per activity * weight factor per activity) / 100) * 100)

If the forecasted end date of any milestone has passed (actual date > forecasted end) and the actual progress of this milestone is not 100%, the background color of this field changes to red.

The Overall Actual Progress field shows the global progress of the inquiry based on the actual progress of each activity. For the calculation of the progress, the actual progress of each activity (milestone) and its weight factor are considered. The progress is calculated with this formula:

sum (((actual progress per activity / 100) * weight factor per activity) / 100) * 100)

Any changes applied to the milestones will be reflected in the overall progress fields after you have saved these changes using the Save button.
