When logging on to Smart Materials, the user must provide his user name and password. Smart Materials authenticates the user name and displays all available product groups and projects with their disciplines to which the user was assigned by the administrator.

To enable the user to log in to Smart Materials, the administrator must assign the user to a project or product group, with the appropriate discipline, language, and user role.

  • User Roles – This defines the user’s access control to Smart Materials screens and data. You can grant full access, read only access, or no access, on the screen, block, or field level. For more information, see Roles.

  • Disciplines – Users must be given access to specific disciplines on projects or product groups in order to see the data for those disciplines.

  • List Views – The assigned list view controls the user’s access rights to BOM position attributes in the E&PI (BOM) module.

  • Privileges – With the assigned privileges, you control the ability to perform specific tasks in the Smart Materials modules. Users will only be able to see and change data where they have been given appropriate privileges. For more information about privileges and their usage, see User Privileges.

With the ASSIGN EXTRA ROLES privilege, you get permission to assign roles that are not assigned to yourself. This privilege is used in the A.20.06.01 and A.20.06.02 screens.
