You must perform the steps below on each local computer that needs to access point cloud data.

  • A copy of Leica Cyclone 7.3 or later must be installed on the client computer. You can download the Cyclone software directly from the Leica GeoSystems web site

  • This document does not cover the use of Cyclone software to prepare a usable point cloud data set. For more information, see the online documentation delivered with the Cyclone software.

  1. Click Start > All Programs > Leica Geosystems > Cyclone 7.3.3.> Cyclone.

  2. In the Cyclone - Navigator window, click Configure > Servers.

The Configure Servers dialog box appears.

By default two instances of the local computer appear in the list of servers: Unshared and Shared.

    • Unshared - Only the local computer can access the point cloud data set.

    • Shared - Both the local and remote computers can access the point cloud data set.

  3. Do one of the following:

    1. If the point cloud data that you want to use is on your local computer and no one else needs access to it, clear the shared instance and then click Close.

Clearing the shared instance gives the best performance on the local computer.

    2. If point cloud data is to be accessed from a remote computer, click Add. In the Add Server dialog box, type the name of the computer you want to grant access in the Server Name box, and then click Add. Click Close to return to the Cyclone - Navigator window.

  4. Click Configure > Databases.

The Configure Databases on [Server Name] dialog box appears.

  5. Click Add.

The Add Databases dialog box appears.

  6. Use the browse feature to navigate to and select the required point cloud database. A valid point cloud database is a file with an .imp extension.

  7. Click OK to close the Add Database dialog box, and then click Close to exit the Configure Databases dialog box.
