  1. Click the Smart Interop Publisher icon on your desktop .
    -OR-
    Click Start > All Programs > Intergraph Smart Interop Publisher.

  2. The first time you open Smart Interop Publisher, follow the prompts to select a SQL Server instance and site database. See Configure a site database.

  3. Click Projects to go to the Projects View.

  4. Click the Create a New Project Command .
    -OR-
    Right-click in the grid, and then select the Create a New Project Command.

  5. On the Create Project Database Dialog, type a project name. For this example, type NXMCADProject.

  6. Use the default SQL Server Data Pathname and SQL Server Log File Pathname locations.
    -OR-
    Clear Use the SQL Server default locations for data and log files, and then type or browse to data and log file locations.

    Smart Interop Publisher stores the AutoPlantProject.mdf project database file in the selected SQL Server data location.

  7. For Shared Content Location, type or browse to a folder in which copies of the application support files such as SPIOPToolMap.xml can be stored. For this example, you can select any file location.

  8. Click Create. Smart Interop Publisher displays NXMCADProject in the Projects View.

  9. Select NXMCADProject, and then right-click to select the Settings > Project Settings Command.

  10. On the General Tab (Project Settings Dialog), type or browse to a location to store the generated Smart Models.

  11. On the Mapping Tab (Project Settings Dialog), select Custom for the Mapping Options and browse to the location of the custom NX mapping file (CustomNXToR3DMapping.xls) you modified as shown in the following example tab.

  12. On the Target Applications Tab (Project Settings Dialog), select Smart 3D, and then click Save.
