A partition is a logical or physical division of data into distinct, independent parts. Smart Instrumentation Web API does this for isolation and manageability.
The Smart Instrumentation Web API exposes two levels of partitions:

The Site as the primary partition, where the "Site" reflects the database.

The PlantGroup partition is the last partition in the partition path and defines the Smart Instrumentation domain within the site. From the PlantGroup partition you can access your domain and plant data, including select lists.
In EPC mode the PlantGroup partitions are the As-Built.

The service container serves as an encapsulating container to the primary partition
and it is transparent to the user.
