In order for Smart Instrumentation Smart API to create reports as PDF files you must do the following in Smart Instrumentation desktop.

  1. Open Smart Instrumentation desktop.

  2. From the menu bar, select File > Preferences.

  3. In the Preferences dialog box select General.

  4. Locate the Output document folder field, click the Browse button to navigate too and select the folder where you want the generated reports to be saved.

    This folder must have a shared path and read/write permissions for everyone.

  5. Select SmartPlant Instrumentation Server from the Preferences menu.

  6. From the Enhanced report format select list, select PDF.

  7. In the Shared Web folder field, make sure the address displayed is the same as the Output document folder field.

  8. Click OK.

    These settings must be applied to all users who are running Smart API's.

  9. Open the Administration Module as a System Administrator.

  10. From the menu bar, select Activities > User.

  11. In the User dialog box, select IDEAL user.

  12. Click Apply.

  13. Reset the IIS on your server.
