  • Make sure that all passwords, user names, folders, and files of the new instance are different from those of any existing instance.

  • All user names and passwords must use ASCII / English characters. Oracle does not support non-ASCII / English characters in user names or passwords and will not work. This limitation is an Oracle limitation, not Intergraph's.

  1. On the Start menu, click All Programs, locate the Oracle folder and under Configuration and Migration Tools, start the Database Configuration Assistant.

  2. On the Select Database Operation page, select Create a Database and click Next.

  3. On the Select Database Creation Mode page, select Advanced Configuration and click Next.

  4. On the Select Database Deployment Type page, select Custom Database and click Next.

  5. On the Specify Database Identification Details page, do the following:

    1. In the Global Database Name box, define the database name, for example, SI19cdb.

    2. In the SID box, accept or modify the instance name that the software enters automatically as you type the database name.

      SHARED Tip The database name and the instance name do not have to be the same.

    3. Check the Create as Container Database check box is not selected. If the Create as Container Database check box is selected, cancel the selection.

  6. On the Select Database Storage Locations page, select Use template file for database storage attributes.

  7. Click Next.

  8. On the Select Fast Recovery Option page, clear the Specify Fast Recovery Area check box.

  9. Click Next.

  10. On the Specify Network Configuration Details page, if required create a new listener.

  11. On the Select Database Options page, on the Database Components tab, clear all the check boxes and click Next.

  12. On the Specify Configuration Options page do the following

    1. On the Memory tab, select the Use Automatic Shared Memory Management option.

    Ensure that the memory size does not exceed 40% of total server memory.

    1. Select the Character Sets tab and do the following:

    • Select the Use Unicode (AL32UTF8) option.

    • Under National Character Set, select AL16UTF16 (the default)

    • The same database character set and national character set values should also be defined on your server.

    • The Default Language and Default Date Format values will reflect locale-specific information.

  13. On the Management Options page, select an option and enter the required values.

  14. Click Next

  15. On the Specify Database User Credentials page, select an option and then in the Password and Confirm Password boxes, type the password, for example, Oracle19 and then click Next.

    SHARED Tip The following terms are reserved and cannot be used as passwords: manager (reserved for the SYSTEM user) and change_on_install (reserved for the SYS user).

  16. On the Creation Options page, select the Create Database check box and then click Next.

    After clicking Next the software performs a check of the parameters selected. If any problems are detected the Prerequisite Checks page opens. You must fix any problems before continuing. If no problems are found the software skips this page and goes straight to the Summary page.

  17. On the Summary page, check that the parameters are correct and then click Finish. The Progress Page is displayed.

  18. On the Finish page click Close.

  19. Restart the server machine.
