Smart Instrumentation 13.1 supports Oracle 18.3 or 19.3 therefore, if you have an earlier version of Oracle, you must upgrade that version to Oracle 18.3 or 19.3.
-
As a prerequisite for upgrading to Oracle 18 or 19, you must already have an earlier version of Oracle installed.
-
Oracle users, when upgrading from SmartPlant Instrumentation 2016 SP1 to Smart Instrumentation 13.1 must have both Oracle server 64-bit and Oracle client 64-bit installed as well as the 32-bit Oracle client. This is because certain functions such as backup and upgrade now use 64-bit client database components, while the 32-bit client is required for running Smart Instrumentation.
-
Every sub-contractor must use Smart Instrumentation in the national environment of your Oracle client to ensure that units of measure are displayed correctly in the upgraded version of Smart Instrumentation. For more information, contact the Smart Community Web Site.
The following alternative workflows are available for upgrading:
-
For installation of a new Oracle server on a separate machine from the previous Oracle server installation, see Smart Instrumentation Upgrade on Oracle - Workflow 1.
-
For upgrade of Oracle on an existing server without new instance creation or domain initialization, see Smart Instrumentation Upgrade on Oracle - Workflow 2.
