Smart Engineering Manager Web Version
3.0

The main view of the Schema Management module is a window showing entities for the selected associated application. In Integrated mode, the window appears as a split pane: the Common Schema entities appear in the Source pane and the registered plant and application entities appear in the Target pane.

Schema Management modes

Available modes are:

  • Standalone — Functionality for this mode is not supported in the current version.

  • Integrated — Allows you to compare and map entities between the Common Schema extension and the Tool Schema (Smart 3D in the current version).

Plant level categories

Organizes the entities by the following categories:

  • Properties — Displays properties and their attributes.

  • Lists — Displays select lists and their attributes.

  • List Items — Displays select list items and their attributes.

Integrated mode actions

The commands for these actions are displayed when you select Integrated mode.

LOAD — This command is activated after you have chosen your target plant and application and have selected at least one source entity. Running the command loads entities into the Target pane that correspond to any Interfaces / Classes / properties, lists, and list items selected in the Source pane.

COMPARE — This command is activated when the data is loaded on the Target pane and compares the tool schema in the target with the selected Common Schema entities in the source. By default, the unmapped entities on both source and target sides are shown in the results after clicking the command.

Next to the COMPARE command is an icon that allows you to toggle the view between the comparison results and the loaded entities. The appearance of the icon indicates the view status:

  • Comparison results view, from which you can filter the view in the target to show unmapped, mapped, ignored, or all entities.

  • Loaded entities view, from which you can re-scope the entities in the source to be loaded if required.

If you click the icon to toggle from the comparison results view to the loaded entities view and then change the scope, you should do one of the following to keep the views synchronized:

  • Click the LOAD button to reload the entities and then click COMPARE. The comparison results are now synchronized with the re-scoped data.

  • Refresh the page without clicking the LOAD button and then click COMPARE. This synchronizes the comparison results based on the current selection without re-scoping the data.

MAP — This command is activated after you have selected a mapping preview following the load and comparison actions. Running the command commits changes to the database indicated by the rows displayed in bold font in the mapping preview.

REPORTS — Not supported in the current version.

Integrated mode viewing panes

SOURCE — The source is loaded automatically on selection of the target plant and application; it displays the extended Common Schema source custom entities. In the current version, the SOURCE button is grayed and cannot be selected.

TARGET — Use the TARGET button to select a different endpoint source, site, and plant if required. The Target pane shows the entities in the engineering application (Smart 3D in the current version).

Viewing pane controls

Expand / Collapse pane — By default, the Source and Target panes are displayed in expanded view and each covers half the width of the data field. Clicking (beside the Source pane) or (beside the Target pane) collapses that pane and expands the opposite pane to the full width of the data view, allowing more columns to be displayed. With only one pane expanded, collapsing that pane expands the opposite pane to the full width of the data view.

Search data boxes — Provides search-as-you-type filtering of the data for the relevant pane or panes. In Integrated mode, before clicking COMPARE, there are separate Search data boxes for the Source and Target panes; after clicking COMPARE, there ia a single Search data box for both panes.

Filter (Only available after COMPARE is clicked) — Allows you to filter the entities according to the following options:

  • Unmapped — Displays the entities for which mapping does not exist between the source and target entities.

  • Mapped — Displays the entities for which mapping exists between the source and target entities. In the mapping Preview mode, also includes entities that are selected to be mapped (shown in bold font).

  • Disabled — Displays the entities that are disabled for mapping.

  • Errors — Displays entities for which errors occurred in the target during any of the following processes: mapping entities, removal of mapping, disabling for mapping, and enabling for mapping.

  • All — Displays the unmapped entities first, followed by the mapped entities, and then the entities that are disabled for mapping.

Ellipsis menu (Only available after COMPARE is clicked) — Accesses various options related to mapping the entities.

Select source row check boxes — In the Source pane, the check boxes are shown when the Common Schema entities are loaded and you are ready to scope them. Select the check box beside each entity you want to scope or select the check box in the column header to scope all the displayed entities in the selected category.

Sort by column — Click a column header to sort the entities by the values in that column in ascending order. Click the column again to sort in descending order.

Column filter — Click the icon in a column header to filter the records by data in that column. In the dialog box that opens, define the filter by selecting an operator from the list:

Available operators:

  • Contains

  • Equals

  • Greater than

  • Less than

Type a value in the text field (case insensitive) and click FILTER.

The grid displays the filtered data and the filter icon on the filtered column changes color to .

To cancel the filter, click and in the dialog box, click CLEAR.
