Smart Construction helps you create, organize, and manage your construction project work packages. In Smart Construction, you can create work packages to plan work in small manageable tasks. You can then populate work packages with components from 2D drawings and 3D models, plan tasks using your external schedule system, and view material information from your external materials management software.

Using Smart Construction, construction planners have at their disposal the latest engineering documents, materials lists, and schedule information. This allows the construction project to move forward more efficiently and provides for the quick reaction and re-scheduling necessary due to inevitable obstacles and changes that occur on a large scale construction project.

The following diagram details one way you can plan your construction project using CWAs, CWPs, and IWPs in Smart Construction.

CWAs

After creating CWAs, you can define content for CWAs by creating content rules and collecting components based on those content rules.

To find out more, see the following:

CWPs

After CWAs are populated, you can create CWPs. Then, you can define content for CWPs by creating content rules and collecting components based on those content rules. You can then add drawings that are related to components in the CWP. You can open a model that contains components for a CWP and animate the work to see how the progress of planning is going.

To find out more, see the following:

IWPs

After CWPs are planned, you can break the work down further into IWPs. You can create IWPs and associate them with an CWP and CWA. There are multiple ways to plan work for IWPs.

You could open a model that contains components that you want to plan. Once open, you can add filters for the IWP's parent CWP, as well as any other filter to highlight work that requires planning. You can then drag filtered components into IWPs to plan the work.

Or, you could add drawings to the IWP from the parent CWP drawing list. The drawings and components are both added and planned.
