In the rate table tabs, you can define the purpose, work step name, and sequence of the work steps.

To add a new work step, add a new column to the rate table tab that contains the component class to which you want to add the work step. Define the IWP purpose in the row below the component class definitions, the sequence number in the second row, and the work step name in the third row. Then add a rate below the new column header. The rate is the number of man hours needed to complete one unit of measure (UoM) of work for a specific step type.

Sequence numbers are not required. If not specified, Smart Construction sequences the work steps on components in the order of the purpose and work step columns (from left to right). Sequence numbers must be specified on all work steps columns or none.

You can specify the IWP purpose in the row below the component class definitions, the sequence number in the second row, and the work step name in the third row.

For example, if you want to add a Stage work step to piping components in Installation IWPs, you would open the PipingComponent tab, create a new column, and add the value Installation in the first row below the component class definitions, a sequence number in the second row, and Stage in the third row. Then, you can add a rate under the new work step column.

SHARED Tip You can add work steps for bolt-up activities. These are optional work steps that can be configured on the Boltups tab for data that specifies bolts and bolt sets.

  1. Check out and open the ROP Configuration.xlsm workbook.

  2. Open a rate table tab.

  3. Insert a column for the new work step value.

  4. In the purpose and work step column, define the IWP purpose in the first row below the component class definitions, sequence number in the next row, and work step name in the third row.

    • The work step name defines how the work step displays on the Smart Construction interface. The sequence defines the numerical order of the work steps in the Smart Construction user interface.

    • The IWP purpose must be spelled exactly the same as the purpose defined in the FIWP purposes enumerated list. For more information, see Configure Work Package Disciplines and Purposes.

    • Sequence numbers are not required. If not specified, Smart Construction sequences the work steps on components in the order of the purpose and work step columns (from left to right). Sequence numbers must be specified on all work steps columns or none.

  5. Add a rate value under the new column header.

  6. Save the workbook and generate rules of progress data.

  7. Check in and sign off the file in the SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client.

  8. Retrieve documents in Smart Construction.
