Smart Construction delivers the following example users: SPC Viewer, SPC Planner, SPC Administrator, and SPC Constraint Mgr.

SHARED Tip The example Smart Construction users must be loaded using the SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client Loader. If these users were not loaded when Smart Construction was installed, browse to the 004-Users folder located in the Smart Construction installation location. For example, navigate to [Drive]:\Program Files\SmartConstruction\LoadFiles\Current\004-Users.

A role assignment links a user to a role in a given configuration. By default, the delivered users below are assigned to the following roles:

Creating custom users

If you want to create your own custom users, we recommend using one of the above user accounts as a template for your new users.

You must create new custom users in SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client, logged in as an administrative user with permissions to create users and assign roles. The SmartPlant Foundation documentation provides details on how to create users and manage role assignments. See User and role assignment configuration.

  1. Create a new login user.

    For a detailed procedure, see Create login users.

  2. Assign the appropriate role and configuration to the new user.

    For details on this process, see Create and manage role assignments.

In order for a new user to be able to use the Smart Construction software, the following conditions must be met:

  • To use the Smart Construction client, all users must be assigned the SmartPlant Foundation Viewer role in addition to any required Smart Construction roles.

  • To use Smart Construction OnSite, all users must meet following requirements:

    • A password must be set for the user, and it cannot be blank.

    • The user must be assigned the SmartPlant Foundation Viewer role.

    • The user must be assigned a construction responsibility.

      For more information on associating Smart Construction users with their area of construction responsibility, see Associate Smart Construction users with a construction responsibility.

  • To log on to the Web Client and view constraints, all users must meet the following requirements:

    • A password must be set for the user, and it cannot be blank.

    • The user must be assigned the Smart Construction Constraint Mgr role.

If you have already loaded the delivered users when you set up and configured your Smart Construction server, you do not need to reload these users during a Smart Construction upgrade.
