By default, when a constraint is created and submitted by the project planner, the request remains associated with the component(s) for which it was established until the planner sets the status as Completed.

However, a SmartPlant Foundation workflow can be configured to route Smart Construction constraint requests as follows:

  1. When the planner sets the status of the constraint request to Submitted and a required date is set, the request is sent to the user associated with the management of the resource being requested (that is, the constraint manager).

  2. When the constraint manager sets the request as Completed, the request is sent to the originating planner for review.

A workflow can be modified to add work steps or users or to change the required property values for progressing the request. You can also create additional workflows if other approvals or notifications are required. All workflow management is performed in SmartPlant Foundation. For details, see Workflow template configuration.
