Tokens contain information used by a Smart API to perform a task. There are different types of tokens for different tasks.

Token Type

Used to Determine

Identity

Whether a user is a valid Smart API user, as determined by checking with the identity provider.

Authorization

Whether the validated user is a member of a group that has been granted access to a Smart API.

Access

The level of access that an authorized user has, for example the data the user can see or the actions a user can take.

Refresh

How long a user session can remain active with its original identity, authorization, and access tokens. After that period of time, the tokens must be regenerated. For example, a user might be required to log on to a Smart Client again.

You can change the lifetime of each token type. In addition, you can enable or disable refresh tokens.
