Displays properties for member system curves. Member systems are logical collections of member parts that maintain the design basis and physical alignment of the member parts for analysis, design, and manufacturing. For example, in vertical cross-bracing, typically one of the vertical braces is split into two parts so that it does not interfere with the other vertical brace in the cross. The member system for that split vertical brace maintains the co-linear alignment of the two parts when you move either outside corner of the vertical brace. Another example of a member system would be a jacket leg. The leg is comprised of different parts, including cans that have different cross-section sizes, but you want the entire leg to move as a single member.

The order in which the properties display in your view depends on your configuration.

Approval State

Specifies the status of the selected object or filter. Changing this property sets the Status. The display depends on your access level. You might be unable to change the status of the object. The list is defined by the ApprovalStatus codelist.

Smart 3Dx saves an object to the database when you change that object's status. Use Undo (CTRL + Z) to reverse the status change.

You can only edit or manipulate an object with a status of Working.

Area

Specifies the cross-section area for the object. This property is read-only. To change this value, edit the object properties in Catalog or in the corresponding workbook.

Beta Angle

Specifies the measurement of the rotation of a member around its axis. A zero Beta Angle on a vertical column aligns the web with the X-axis. Any horizontal or sloped member will have the web aligned with the vertical Z-axis. This value is calculated by the software. You cannot edit this value.

Continuity Priority Number

Specifies the priority when two profile systems that have the same Continuity setting intersect. The profile system with the lowest continuity priority number penetrates the other system. For example, two profile systems intersect and the Continuity setting of each set to Continuous. The profile system with the lowest Continuity Priority number splits the other profile system. You can only modify this property at the root system.

Continuity Type

Specifies the way in which the object system reacts when the system intersects another object system (your automatic splitting preference). The list is defined by the StructContinuity codelist.

Continuous

Indicates that the object system should split the other object system.

Intercostal

Indicates that the object system should be split by the other object system.

You cannot split objects that have a Continuity Type setting of Continuous.

Created by

Specifies the name of the person who created the object.

Date Created

Specifies the creation date of the object.

Date Last Modified

Specifies the date of the last modification to the object.

Dry Center of Gravity

Specifies the location of the dry center-of-gravity for the object.

Dry Weight

Specifies the dry weight of the object.

Hyperlink

Specifies the URL or local file path associated with the object. Click the hyperlink to open the page or object in your default browser. Point to the hyperlink to display the URL or path as a tooltip.

Description

Specifies the descriptive text associated with the hyperlink.

URL

Specifies the web address or local file name associated with the hyperlink. The URL must include the protocol, such as http: or https:, as well as the domain name. For example, https://hexagonppm.com/.

Last Modified by

Specifies the name of the person who last modified the object.

Length

Specifies the object length.

Mirror

Specifies that Smart 3Dx reflects or mirrors the cross-section of the supported member about a plane perpendicular to the supporting member side. For example, when you place a supported member with an angle cross-section using the left edge option and you want the angle facing the other direction

Name

Specifies the name of the selected object. If the name is too long to entirely display in the box, point to the box to display the complete name as a tool tip. If the name is not defined by a rule, User Defined displays. If this name is generated by a naming rule, Naming Rule displays. If you type a name in this box, Smart 3Dx automatically changes the naming rule to User Defined.

Parent System

Specifies the parent system for the object. Recently used systems that are appropriate to assign as the parent system for this object as well as the Select from Workspace and Select from Model options display in the list. The most recently used system displays at the top.

The parent system of the object must have an Approval Status of Working before you can change the Parent System value. If the Approval Status of the parent system is not set to Working, this value is read-only.

Select Interactively

Turns on or off the interactive selection. When this option is on, you can select the parent object in a graphic view or any of the explorers.

Select from Workspace ICON Select from Workspace

Displays the Select Parent System Dialog with the Workspace tab open. The workspace is the subset of the active model database you specified when you started your design session. Navigate the hierarchy to select the parent system, and then click OK.

Select from Model ICON Select from Model

Displays the Select Parent System Dialog with the Model tab open. The model is all of the objects in the active model database, including those that are not part of your workspace. Navigate the hierarchy to select the parent system, and then click OK.

Priority

Specifies the priority assigned to the object system. Smart 3Dx uses the priority to group objects. To change the options on the list, edit the Structural Member Priority select list in Catalog.

Type Category

Specifies the type of member, such as a beam or column. The available member properties change depending on the member type that you select. This property is a hierarchical child of Type Category. To change the options on the list, edit the Structural Member Type select list in Catalog.

Wet Center of Gravity

Specifies the location of the wet center-of-gravity for the object.
