Displays properties for materials. Material is the substance of which an object is made.

The order in which the properties display in your view depends on your configuration.

Approval State

Specifies the status of the selected object or filter. Changing this property sets the Status. The display depends on your access level. You might be unable to change the status of the object. The list is defined by the ApprovalStatus codelist.

Smart 3Dx saves an object to the database when you change that object's status. Use Undo (CTRL + Z) to reverse the status change.

You can only edit or manipulate an object with a status of Working.

Created by

Specifies the name of the person who created the object.

Damping Coefficient

Specifies the damping coefficient for the material. The damping coefficient is used in dynamic analysis. Any positive real value is valid.

Date Created

Specifies the creation date of the object.

Date Last Modified

Specifies the date of the last modification to the object.

Density

Specifies the mass or weight density of the material. For example, type 7800 kg/m3. Any positive real value is valid. Zero is also valid.

Elastic Modulus

Specifies Young's modulus (the modulus of elasticity) for the material. Any real value greater than zero is valid.

Emissivity

Specifies the emissivity for the material.

Hyperlink

Specifies the URL or local file path associated with the object. Click the hyperlink to open the page or object in your default browser. Point to the hyperlink to display the URL or path as a tooltip.

Description

Specifies the descriptive text associated with the hyperlink.

URL

Specifies the web address or local file name associated with the hyperlink. The URL must include the protocol, such as http: or https:, as well as the domain name. For example, https://hexagonppm.com/.

Last Modified by

Specifies the name of the person who last modified the object.

Material Grade

Specifies the material grade. For example, type A36 or Eh42.

Material Name

Specifies the material type. For example, type Steel- Carbon or Concrete.

Maximum Compression

Specifies the maximum allowable compressive stress for the material. Any positive real value is valid.

Maximum Shear

Specifies the maximum allowable shear stress for the material. Any positive real value is valid.

Maximum Tension

Specifies the maximum allowable tensile stress for the material. Any positive real value is valid.

Poisson Ratio

Specifies Poisson's Ratio for the material. Any real value greater than or equal to zero and less than 0.5 is valid.

Shear Modulus

Specifies the shear modulus of elasticity for the material. Any real value greater than zero is valid.

Specific Heat

Specifies the specific heat for the material.

Thermal Conductivity

Specifies the thermal conductivity for the material.

Thermal Expansion Coefficient

Specifies the coefficient of thermal expansion for the material. Any positive real value is valid. Zero is also valid.
