  1. Select Structural Tab > Slab Command to display the Place Slab Controls.

  2. Select the parent system for the slab.

  3. Select the Type, Composition, Face Position, and Thickness for the slab.

  4. Select the support plane of the slab. You can select multiple planes to place multiple slabs at the same time. For example, if you have a multi-story building with the same floor geometry and you want the same size and type of slab on each floor, you can select the plane for each floor. You can select each floor elevation plane, and then define the boundaries on one floor. The software uses the same boundaries for each elevation level and places the slabs. After placement, the slabs are unrelated to each other and can be edited as individual entities.

    • Select Coincident S3D_Plane_Coincidental to specify that you want the slab placed on the support plane that you select in the model. This plane could be an elevation plane of a coordinate system, an existing slab plane, the top plane of a flange, or any other flat surface that the software allows you to select. If this selected plane moves after the slab is placed, the slab moves with it.

    • Select 3 Points Plane Four Points to specify the support plane using three points that you specify in the model.

    Place Slab Plane Selection

  5. Optionally, type an offset distance from the selected support plane.

  6. Select Define Boundaries S3D_Boundary_Select when you are finished selecting support planes.

  7. Select Sketching Sketch Path to display the Sketching Controls.

SHARED Tip Select Menu > Options > General Tab, and select Sketch In Oriented View have the software automatically switch the orientation of the active graphic view look down on the sketching plan.

  8. Using the Draw commands, sketch the slab boundary.

  9. Select Accept Com_Checkmark to indicate that you are finished sketching the boundaries.

  10. Select Navigate Backward to return to the Place Slab Controls.
