For the API to work, the Smart 3D Service Manager, a Windows service, must be running on the server.

If the service is not running, you can start it using the Configuration Utility's Services page, Smart 3D Service Manager section.

Both APIs share the same configuration.

Go to the Services page > Smart 3D Services Manager section

  1. On any machine where the web API services are installed, open the Configuration Utility:

Start > Intergraph Smart 3D > Web API Configuration Tool

  2. On the Welcome page, select Configure Database Connection & Prerequisites.

  3. Click Next until the Services page shows the Smart 3D Services Manager section at the top.

If you do not see the Smart3D Service Manager section, it means the Windows service is already running.

  1. Enter the username and password for the service to run under.

  • The credentials used to run the Windows service must have Log on as a service rights on the computer.

  • Unless you have set up Smart 3D to support database user access, this login is also used to access the Smart 3D databases so it must also have database access.
