When you expose a plant, the plant is enabled and metadata is extracted from the plant schema for use in constructing the API entity data model (EDM).
Problem
Most of the time, problems with the EDM are caused by:
-
Outdated metadata - This can happen when:
-
The Smart 3D software is upgraded but the database is not.
-
The catalog data for an existing plant is changed.
-
-
Inaccessible plant - This happens when the plant is removed from the site or the plant's model database has been deleted or cannot be found.
Resolution 1: Migrate the Database
If the Smart 3D software was upgraded but the database was not, migrate the database. If that does not fix the problem, continue with resolution 2.
Resolution 2: Find and fix problems with the Configuration Utility
You can use the Configuration Utility to find and fix plant metadata problems that affect the EDM.
Both APIs share the same configuration. So, any changes only have to be made once.
-
On any machine where the web API services are installed, open the Configuration Utility:
Start > Intergraph Smart 3D > Web API Configuration Tool
-
On the Welcome page, select Configure Smart 3D Data.
-
Click Next until the Smart 3D Data page shows the Choose Site section at the top.
-
Choose a site to see the plants it contains in the Enable Plants section.
Icons in the Web API Enabled column let you know which plants have a problem.
-
Warning
- The plant's metadata is out of date
-
Error
- The plant is inaccessible
-
-
To fix a problem, select the plant and use one of the buttons above the table:
-
To update the metadata - Click Regenerate Metadata
.
-
To remove an inaccessible plant - Click Disable Selected Plants
.
Disabling a machine will affect load balancing. For more information, see Web services, performance, load balancing, and rate limiting.
