  1. Click Straking Seam by Projection on the vertical toolbar.

  2. Select the plate part for the straking seam.

  3. Click Accept .

  4. Specify the plane for the seam sketch using one of the following methods:

    Define an offset plane

    Define a plane using a point and a normal vector

    Define a plane using three points

  5. Click Add Intersecting Item .

  6. Select objects in the model that intersect the sketching plane that you want to use as reference geometry. These extra objects display in the Sketch 2D environment.

  7. Click Add Projection Item .

  8. Select objects in the model that do not intersect the sketching plane to use as reference geometry. These extra objects project onto the sketching plane and display in the Sketch 2D environment.

  9. Click Sketch 2D .

  10. In the Sketch 2D environment, sketch the seam curve.

  11. Click Finish in the Sketch 2D environment.

  12. Click Accept .

  13. Define the seam boundaries.

    Pick boundaries

  14. Click Accept .

  15. Click Finish to place the seam.

  • If you do not select boundaries, the software uses the entire length of the base curve to apply to the resulting seam curves.

  • A straking seam is always attached to a plate part.

  • You can define properties for the seam to provide a unique identification.
