Split profile end cuts are created automatically in the Structural Detailing task. The assembly connection rules choose a different selector for split profiles.

Assembly Connection Rules

The EndToEndWebCutSel is part of the EndCutRules, but it has additional questions that are passed down from the assembly connection rules.

Split at Angle Cases

NoAngle - This is the default case. It places a regular welded end cut on both profiles.

AngleWebSquareFlange

This case is seen in Common.cls as Case 2.

AngleWebBevelFlange

This case places Case2 with only a web cut. It does not place a flange cut.

AngleWebAngleFlange

This case is defined in Common.cls as Case 3.

DistanceWebDistanceFlange

This case is defined in Common.cls as Case 4.

OffsetWebOffsetFlange

This case is defined in Common.cls as Case 5.

If the flange should be snipped, the web cut needs to avoid cutting the flange in this case.

SplitEndCutTypes Codelist

The codelist is defined in the AllShipCodeListsStructDetails.xls file.

Split End Cut Symbols

If an offset is defined then profile 1 should be cut back and profile 2 should have material added. Two different end cuts are required.

A - Web Cut 2, adds material.

B - Web Cut 1, cuts away material.

C - Offset

Split end cut symbols are defined like other end cuts with additional offset and angle parameters.

A - Web Cut 2, adds material.

B - Web Cut 1, cuts away material.

Root Selector

The rules follow the same process as other end cuts, but they enter through a different selector. The questions include the split case type and a toggle to flip the split angle. Both questions are answered at the assembly connection level and passed down.

Based on the case, EndToEndWebCutSel calls sub- selectors in Common.cls.

Definition File

The EndToEndPhysConnDef.cls file creates the end cuts and required physical connections. WebCutDef is used for cases with no physical connections.

Parameter Rules

Each case has a different parameter rule.

Each parameter rule has different outputs.

Bulkloading

The split end cut reference data is delivered by default to the SRDConstDetailsEndCuts.xls workbook in the [Product Folder]\StructDetail\Data\BulkloadFiles folder. Each worksheet in this file creates a Smart Class. Each row creates a Smart Item.

A - Selector Rule

B - Symbols
