Common Parts Service identifies and manages structural parts that are common within the scope of a block, an assembly, or an assembly block. The process creates groups and folders. The Common Part Service dialog box can be found under Tools > Common Parts > Common Part Service.

Common Part Definition

Sets the rules for comparison.

Common Part Definition

Displays the common part definitions to be selected.

View Setting

Displays the View Settings dialog box.

Manage Filters

Show Existing

Displays the managers associated to the Common Part Definition selected in grid.

Database

Displays the associated managers present in the database.

Workspace

Displays the associated managers present in the workspace.

Check Status

Displays one of the following status for the Common Part Manager: New, Running, Completed, or Out Of Date.

Add Row

Adds a new row to the Common Part Service.

Select

Specifies a row to process the related assemblies for common parts.

Discard

Specifies a row to delete a Common Part Manager and creates a new Common Part Manager. The Common Part Service creates new groups.

Assembly

Specifies an assembly from Select Assembly to execute the Common Part Service.

Common Part Manager

Specifies the name of a Common Part Manager and is editable.

Status

Displays one of the following status for the Common Part Manager:

New

Specifies a new assembly. It also specifies that the Common Part Service is not run for the assembly.

Running

Specifies that the Common Part Service is being executed for the assembly.

Completed

Specifies that the execution of the Common Part Service is complete.

Out of Date

Specifies whether the Common Part Service is out of date. A Common Part Service status changes to Out of Date in one of the following cases:

  • When you add new parts to the assembly

  • When you move existing parts out of the assembly

  • When you modify existing parts, including changes to the part name.

  • When you move parts in the Relocated Parts folder of the Common Part Manager.

  • When part exist in the Relocated Parts folder of the Common Part Manager.

Plates, Profiles, Collars, Members, and Brackets Object Types

Specifies one or more object types to process the common parts. After Common Part Service completes, the software displays the number of groups created under each object type.

Process Status

Object Type and Sub-manager being processed

Displays the object type and sub-manager being processed for the assembly.

Number of sub-assemblies processed

Displays the number of sub-assemblies processed in the assembly.

Elapsed time

Displays the elapsed time since the start of processing of the selected assembly.

Process Log

Enable Log

Specifies generation of a detailed log file.

Browse

Allows you to browse and to save the log file.

Submit Job

Allows you to submit the selected job.

Start

Starts the selected job.

Stop

Stops the selected job.

Close

Closes the log file.
