The following tasks are used frequently when you create volume drawings.

Create a Volume Component

Create a Volume component using the New command. See Add a new package of components.

Edit the Volume Component Template

The template for the volume drawing defines the size and location of the frames that will contain the drawing volumes. See Edit a volume drawing template. If your volume drawing requires a key plan, you can Place a key plan while in the SmartSketch Drawing Editor. See the SmartSketch Drawing Editor Help.

Place Volumes in Space Management

In the Space Management task, create volumes using one of the Place Drawing Volumes commands on the vertical toolbar. See Defining Drawing Volumes and the Smart 3D Space Management Help.

Create the Volume Drawing Document

Right-click the component and select Create Drawing to create a volume drawing.

Updating Volume Documents

Update the volume drawing document. See Updating Documents.

Viewing the Drawing Log

View the drawing log to see any messages associated with the drawing. See View Log Command.

Set Drawing Properties

Specify the properties for the drawing component or drawing documents by right-clicking and selecting Properties. See Edit document properties.

Comparing 2D Drawing Objects to 3D Model Objects

Open a drawing document in a 3D task and compare the 2D drawing objects in the drawing document to 3D model objects.

Manually Add Labels

In many cases, you need to include additional labels or dimensions on the volume drawing after it is created. See Place a manual label. This is an optional task and is not required to create volume drawings.

Publish the Volume Drawing

Publish the Volume Drawing. You can publish only if your model has been registered using the SmartPlant Registration Wizard. See Publishing Documents.

The viewable files created when you publish drawings and reports provide relationship links to the 3D Model Data. You must also publish the 3D Model Data to provide the navigation between the viewable files and the 3D Model Data.
