The StructOpeningsMetric.xls workbook defines openings created in the Molded Forms task. The workbook is delivered to the [Product Folder]\CatalogData\BulkLoad\DataFiles folder and is bulkloaded into the catalog. The same workbook is used for openings in the Structure task.

The workbook is delivered with a worksheet for each type of opening.

Definition Section

Each opening worksheet has a Definition section with the following attributes:

  • PartClassType - Class type "OpeningClass" as defined on the PartClassTypes sheet of the [Product Folder]\ShipCatalogData\Bulkload\DataFiles\AllShipCodeLists.xls file. Do not modify.

  • SymbolDefinition - 2D symbol file associated with the opening. 2D symbol files are delivered to the [Reference Data Folder]\SharedContent folder.

  • SymbolIcon - Specifies a graphic file for the part class. You can view this graphic in the Catalog task or on the Properties dialog box in the Molded Forms task in the software. For more information, see Symbol Icons.

Head Section

Each worksheet has a Head section with the following attributes and parameters:

  • PartNumber - Part number or name of the opening as it displays in the Catalog task. This identification must be unique across the entire catalog. You can repeat the SectionName here if the opening does not have a part number.

  • PartDescription - Description for the opening.

  • SectionName - Name of the opening as it displays in the Catalog task. This identification must be unique across the entire catalog.

  • Area - Opening area. Include the unit of measurement when defining this value.

  • Perimeter - Total distance around the perimeter of the opening. Include the unit of measurement when defining this value.

  • Custom - Specifies if the opening parameters can be changed. Type 1 if the opening can be changed. Type 0 if the opening cannot be changed.

  • SymbolDefinition - 2D symbol file associated with the opening. You can specify a symbol file different from the SymbolDefinition in the Definition section. 2D symbol files are delivered to the [Reference Data Folder]\SharedContent folder.

SquareOpening Worksheet

Defines square openings. 

The Head section also has the following parameters in addition to those listed above:

  • Length - Length of the opening.

  • Fillet - Fillet radius at each corner of the opening.

OvalOpening Worksheet

Defines oval openings.

The Head section also has the following parameters in addition to those listed above:

  • MajorAxis - Major axis length of the opening.

  • MinorAxis - Minor axis length of the opening.

RectangleOpening Worksheet

Defines rectangular openings.

The Head section also has the following parameters in addition to those listed above:

  • Length - Opening length. This is the shorter side.

  • Width - Opening width. This is the longer side.

  • Fillet - Fillet radius at each corner of the opening.

TriangleOpening Worksheet

Defines triangular openings.

The Head section also has the following parameters in addition to those listed above:

  • Length - Opening length at the base of the triangle. In the delivered 2D symbol file, the base is vertically oriented.

  • Width - Opening width, which is the height of the triangle. In the delivered 2D symbol file, the height is horizontally oriented.

  • Fillet - Fillet radius at each corner of the opening.

  • Angle - Angle at which the triangle is tilted from horizontal.
