Molded conventions define structural alignment for plates and profiles. The SM_SRDHierarchy.xls workbook defines several molded forms specifications in the catalog, The workbook is delivered to the [Product Folder]\ShipCatalogData\BulkLoad\DataFiles folder and is bulkloaded into the catalog.
MoldedFormSpec Worksheet
Defines the names of the molded convention specifications.
-
ObjectName - Object name of the specification as used by the software. Do not modify.
-
SpecName - Name of the specification as it displays in the catalog.
-
SpecInfo - Description of the specification.
MoldedConventions Worksheet
Defines the molded conventions for each molded forms specification. Molded conventions include plate thickness directions and profile orientations. Molded conventions for individual systems are displayed and modified on the Molded Conventions tab of the Properties dialog box in the software.
SpecName
Name of the specification that matches a SpecName on the MoldedFormSpec worksheet.
PlateType
Plate system type. Use the following values:
-
Deck - Deck plate using a planar coordinate system.
-
Tbulkhead - Transverse bulkhead plate using a planar coordinate system.
-
Lbulkhead - Longitudinal bulkhead plate using a planar coordinate system.
-
LongitudinalTube - Longitudinal tubular plate using a radial coordinate system.
-
TransverseTube - Transverse tubular plate using a radial coordinate system.
-
VerticalTube - Vertical tubular plate using a radial coordinate system.
-
Hull - Hull plate.
PlatePosition
Location of the plate relative to the appropriate reference plane (MidShips for transverse bulkheads, or CenterLine for longitudinal bulkheads). Use the following values:
-
Above - Above for a Deck PlateType.
-
Below - Below for a Deck PlateType.
-
Fore - Forward of the MidShips reference plane for a Tbulkhead or TransverseTube PlateType.
-
Aft - Aft of the MidShips reference plane for a Tbulkhead or TransverseTube PlateType.
-
Port - Port of the CenterLine reference plane for an Lbulkhead, LongitudinalTube or VerticalTube PlateType.
-
Starboard - Starboard of the CenterLine reference plane for an Lbulkhead, LongitudinalTube or VerticalTube PlateType.
-
OnRef - On the reference plane for all PlateTypes.
PlatePort
Location of a part of the hull. Used instead of PlatePosition because the complexity of the hull shape is not unique to a single reference plane. Use the following values:
-
PortSide - Port side of the hull.
-
StarboardSide - Starboard side of the hull.
-
BottomSide - Bottom of the hull.
-
AftSide - Hull transom.
plateThicknessDirection
Default direction of plate thickness relative to the molded surface of the plate. Use the following values:
-
Above - Above the molded surface for a Deck PlateType.
-
Below - Below the molded surface for a Deck PlateType.
-
Fore - Forward of the molded surface for a Tbulkhead or TransverseTube PlateType.
-
Aft - Aft of the molded surface for a Tbulkhead or TransverseTube PlateType.
-
Port - Port of molded surface for an Lbulkhead, LongitudinalTube or VerticalTube PlateType.
-
Starboard - Starboard of molded surface for an Lbulkhead, LongitudinalTube or VerticalTube PlateType.
-
OnRef - Centered on the molded surface for all PlateTypes.
plateThicknessOffset
Default offset distance of the plate from the molded surface in the plateThicknessDirection.
ProfileType
Type of orientation of profiles mounted to the PlateType. Use the following values:
-
primary - Orientation of the profile.
-
secondary - Orientation of the profile flange.
ProfilePosition
Location of the profile relative to the appropriate reference plane (MidShips for transverse bulkheads, or CenterLine for longitudinal bulkheads). Use the following values:
-
Fore - Forward of the MidShips reference plane.
-
Aft - Aft of the MidShips reference plane.
-
Port - Port of the CenterLine reference plane.
-
Starboard - Starboard of the CenterLine reference plane.
-
OnReference - On the reference plane.
-
Above - Up. Only valid for secondary orientation.
-
Below - Down. Only valid for secondary orientation.
profileOrientation
Default primary orientation of the profile relative to the PlatePosition and ProfilePosition. Use the following values:
-
Fore - Forward of the plate system.
-
Aft - Aft of the plate system.
-
Port - Port of the plate system.
-
Starboard - Starboard of the plate system.
-
OnReference - On the plate system.
-
Above - Above the plate system.
-
Below - Below the plate system.
-
In - On the inside of the plate system. Used only for tubular plates.
-
Out - On the outside of the plate system. Used only for tubular plates.
-
Inboard - On the inboard side of the plate system. Used only for hull plate.
-
Outboard - On the outboard side of the plate system. Used only for hull plate.
flangeOrientation
Default secondary orientation of the profile flange. Use the following values:
-
Fore - Flange is pointing forward.
-
Aft - Flange is pointing aft.
-
Port - Flange is pointing port.
-
Starboard - Flange is pointing starboard.
-
Up - Flange is pointing up.
-
Down - Flange is pointing down.
-
CW - Flange is pointing clockwise. Only valid for tubular plate.
-
Inboard - Flange is pointing inboard.
-
Outboard - Flange is pointing outboard.
webThicknessDirection
This value is not used in the Properties dialog box in the software, but is used internally by the software. Do not modify from the default value of Centered.
webThicknessOffset
This value is not used in the Properties dialog box in the software, but is used internally by the software. Do not modify from the default value of 0.
For more information on the molded conventions defined in the default marine library catalog, see Molded Conventions.
MoldedFormNaming Worksheet
Defines the naming rules used to name molded forms objects. Type and Naming Category display on the Main tab of the Properties dialog box in the software for each object with a naming rule. Do not modify.
