The PDMS to Smart 3D workflow involves exporting data files from PDMS, converting PDMS data to Smart Interop Objects (SIOs), and importing the SIOs into Smart 3D. The conversion to SIO process generates Smart 3D objects based on a common schema that can be moved and modified.

The workflow processes are listed below. For firsthand experience, you can follow the step-by-step instructions in PDMS Exercise: Map a Custom Property and Convert to SIOs. This exercise takes you through mapping a custom PDMS property into a Smart 3D Smart Interop Object (SIO).

  1. Make sure you install and configure the Intergraph Smart 3D Integration Service for the Smart 3D model containing the imported PDMS data.

  2. Export PDMS Data and .att Files.

  3. Translate PDMS Data Using Smart Interop Publisher.

  4. Generate and Import Smart Interop Objects (SIOs).

  5. Synchronize Custom Properties with HxGN SDx2.

If you have custom select lists, properties, interfaces, and classes:

  6. Add Custom Schema Objects to the HxGN SDx2 Common Schema.

  7. Synchronize the SIOMap File and Common Schema.
