The Material Data & SmartPlant Publisher (MDP) utility allows you to generate relational database tables containing all the material data associated with a PDS model and publish these tables to a new database schema (MTO_PROJNAME). These tables make the model data available for easier reporting outside of PD_Report. You must publish PDS model data to the Material Takeoff (MTO) database using the Material Data Publisher for all disciplines and using the Publish Standard Notes option before you can run the Metadata Adapter.

The Material Data Publisher uses selection set files to determine what data to publish. The MDP interface allows you to select specific disciplines, model areas, and models within the project to publish, and to save different sets of models in separate selection set files. See the MDP Tree View and List View.

Create a Selection Set File

  1. Click Start > All Programs > PD Shell > Material Data & SmartPlant Publisher.

  2. Select a project from the Project menu list.

If the MDP database tables have not been created for the project, or if they exist and must to updated, you are prompted to create or update them.

  3. In the tree view, navigate to the project hierarchy, and then select required components in the list view.

  4. Click File > Save or Save Save on the toolbar to save the project selection set file.

Publish Material Data

  1. Click File > Open or Open Open on the toolbar to open the selection set file.

  2. Click the MDP Publish Menu > Start Publishing Command to publish data immediately.

If a computer is already performing a publishing operation on this project, a message displays that the discipline is locked by that computer for MDP.

    -OR-

Click the MDP Publish Menu > Setup Scheduled Jobs Command to schedule publishing jobs for later.

  3. Set the options on the Schedule Setup dialog. Ensure that the Publish Standard Notes option is enabled.

  4. Click Submit to process the job immediately or to schedule the batch jobs.
