  1. Click Place Volume by Window Command on the vertical toolbar to view the Place Volume by Window ribbon.

  2. Specify a name for the volume in the Name box.

  3. Select a volume type from the Type list.

The list in the Type box provides only the last few volumes selected from the catalog. Choosing More displays the Select Volume Dialog, which allows you to select any type of volume found in the catalog database.

  4. Select a folder from the Space folder list.

    • The default folder is the last folder used when creating a volume. In a new session file, the default is the model (the root level of the space hierarchy).

    • Assigning volumes to a space folder organizes volumes in the current model. See Create Space Folder.

  5. On the Common ribbon, use view controls such as Common Views to orient the view. Typically, you want an orthogonal plan, section, or elevation view. Then, click Fit on the Common ribbon to fit the view to the window.

  6. Click Finish to create the volume by performing a normal projection of the view.

Use the view controls to better see the volume.
