  1. Click Reposition Target S3D_Target_Reposition ICON on the PinPoint Ribbon.

  2. Select the top-front corner of the slab as shown below.

    SHARED Tip Be sure that the end point glyph displays when you set the target.

  3. Click Insert > Construction Graphics.

  4. Expand the Construction Graphics folder and select the Structural system. Then, click OK.

  5. Type a name such as ExpansionJoint_1 in the Name box.

    Graphic Type is set to Line placeline, and the software prompts you to Define the start point of the line.

  6. On the PinPoint Ribbon, set the following coordinates:

    Type 0 in the East box.

    Type 14 ft in the North box.

    Type 0 in the Elevation box.

    SHARED Tip Be sure the coordinates lock when you enter the value.

  7. Left click anywhere in the graphic view to place the first point. The software displays a message notifying you that the Reference Geometry aspect has been turned on. Click OK to dismiss the message.

    All Construction Graphics are automatically placed in the Reference Geometry aspect. You cannot modify this

  8. Move your cursor in the N/E direction until the "E" direction glyph displays, then move to the edge of the slab so both the "E" glyph and the intersection glyph display. Click to place the expansion joint line.

  9. Click Start point startpoint to start a new expansion joint line.

  10. Type a name such as ExpansionJoint_2 in the Name box.

  11. On the PinPoint Ribbon, set the following coordinates:

    Type 0 in the East box.

    Type 28 ft in the North box.

    Type 0 in the Elevation box.

  12. Left click anywhere in the graphic view to place the first point.

    SHARED Tip Previously used PinPoint dimensions can be selected from the lists for each direction to save time.

  13. Move your cursor in the N/E direction until the "E" direction glyph is shown, then move to the edge of the slab until the "divisor" glyph is shown. Click to place the second expansion joint line.

  14. Type a name such as ExpansionJoint_3 in the Name box.

  15. On the PinPoint Ribbon, set the following coordinates:

    Type 0 in the East box.

    Type 42 ft in the North box.

    Type 0 in the Elevation box.

  16. Click anywhere in the graphic view to place the first point.

  17. Move your cursor in the N/E direction until the "E" direction glyph is shown, then move to the edge of the slab so both the "E" glyph and the intersection glyph are shown and left click to place the expansion joint line.
