Name geometric elements of the symbol.

Web Cut

  1. On the Web Cut Symbols toolbar, click Add Edge Names to display the Name Geometry dialog box.

  2. In the Attribute name box, choose EdgeName.

  3. Select geometry on the end cut polygon; the corresponding line highlights in the table. Only geometry on the actual end cut contour of the end cut polygon is named.

  4. Web cut geometry is sequentially named (WebFace1, WebFace2, and so forth) starting from the bottom of the profile. In the Edge Name column, type the name. In this example, the highlighted edge is named WebFace4.

  5. Click Apply.

  6. Repeat until all edges of the end cut contour are named.

  7. Clear Representation Geometry Only so that all geometry in the symbol is shown.

  8. Select a bounded part line; the corresponding line highlights in the grid.

  9. In the Value field, type the name. In this example, the highlighted edge is named Bottom.

  10. Click Apply.

  11. Repeat until all edges of the end cut contour are named.

If an idealized boundary is used for the bounding part, select it and name it Idealized_Boundary.

  12. Click OK.

Flange Cut

  1. On the Flange Cut Symbols toolbar, click Name Geometry to display the Name Geometry dialog box.

  2. In the Attribute name box, choose EdgeName.

  3. Select geometry on the end cut polygon; the corresponding line highlights in the table. Only geometry on the actual end cut contour of the end cut polygon is named.

  4. Flange cut geometry is sequentially named (FlangeFace1, FlangeFace2, and so forth) starting from the right side of the profile and going left. In the Edge Name box, type the name. In this example, the highlighted edge is named FlangeFace1.

  5. Click Apply.

  6. Repeat until all edges of the end cut contour are named.

  7. Clear Representation Geometry Only so that all geometry in the symbol is shown.

  8. Select a bounded part line; the corresponding line highlights in the table.

  9. In the Value box, type the name. In this example, the highlighted edge is named Web_Left.

  10. Select the bounding part line; the corresponding line highlights in the table.

  11. In the Value box, type the name Idealized_Boundary.

  12. Click OK.
