SDB Best Practice Workflow to Define Commodity Codes (Commodity Management) - Intergraph Smart Reference Data - Help - Hexagon

For additional information on each process step, refer the links provided for Smart Reference Data Plus (SPRD) or Standard Database (SDB):

1. Define Commodity Code table names in Table Management.

   • Table Details.

2. Define Table Groups. Most of the table groups are defined separately for each standard/system.

   • Create a table group.

   • Tables Like Materials are defined based on Manufacturing type, Component Type and System.

   • Tables like Dimensional Standards are defined based on Component Type and System.

3. Define table detail values as per standards to meet the design and procurement requirements. SDB has a predefined set of Table ranges for SDB future use and customer values.

4. SDB has predefined linked tables for some of the commodity tables which meet miscellaneous/optional requirements.

   Tables P_ALIAS and P_ALIAS_TRIM are associated with Linked Tables.

5. Define Linked Table Groups.

   • Create a table group.

6. SDB Linked Tables details are defined as a subset of values to maintain the consistency of the values across parent table details.

7. SDB commodity rules are defined as per standards to meet the design and procurement requirements. SDB is defined with Commodity Code Structure in Commodity Keys for each rule.

8. This process is to define Commodity Groups. Most of the commodity groups in SDB are classified based on component family type as per standards.

   • Add a commodity group.

9. This process is to define Commodity parts. Most of the commodity parts in SDB are classified based on component types as per standards and body design. Appropriate Commodity Rules are assigned for each commodity part to meet the design and procurement requirements.

10. Create commodity code with required table details as required by commodity rule with reference to commodity group and part. Same shall be used in specifications and catalog management for further use of Design tools.
