Smart Review Version
12.x(2017)

Allows you to remove objects or portions of a model to focus on a specific area. When activated, Intergraph FreeView presents a 3D wireframe box that allows three-sided adjustment to define your clipping area. By default, use inverse clipping to cut away objects and reveal the inner sections of objects or sections in the model.

Clipping

  1. Set up your view to display all or required sections of the model. To get closer to the required objects, you can select the objects and then Fit.

  2. Tap Clip . By default, the Adjust and Activate settings are enabled.

The 3D wireframe box displays and surrounds the selected objects. If you do not select any objects or use Fit, the wireframe box defaults to half the volume of the currently-visible model and around the center of the entire dataset.

  3. With Adjust enabled, drag a box face to resize the clip volume area. You can select and change three sides of the 3D wireframe box.

    • The clipping plane face(s) not being adjusted display as solid yellow lines, and the clipping plane face(s) that are being adjusted display as solid red lines.

    • The more the face is perpendicular to the view direction, the less you are able to move the wireframe face.

    • Double-click on a face to turn selection on and off. When the face is turned off, you cannot move it.

    • To adjust clip volume face positions, select and drag a corner of the clipping volume wireframe. You can double-click the corner to turn on and off the adjacent faces for that corner. When you turn on a face, you can move it when you drag the mouse cursor.

  4. Click and drag the individual axis on the 3D wireframe in the Main view to rotate the clipping volume area around that selected axis.

  5. To move the entire clipping volume without resizing, drag the axis center point. To move the entire clipping volume without changing face sizes, select and drag a single edge.

  6. When you have the clipping area sized as required, turn Adjust off to remove the 3D wireframe box. This gives you an unobstructed view of your clipping area. You can then select objects, view their properties and attachments, and take screenshots.

  7. Use Activate to turn clipping on and off.

Inverse Clipping

  1. To toggle between inverse clipping (hide objects inside the 3D wireframe box) and standard clipping (hide objects outside the 3D wireframe box), double-tap in the open space away from the wireframe.

    The software adjusts the clipping.

  2. Turn on Adjust and set your clipping area as described in the normal clipping workflow.

The software hides objects inside the 3D wireframe box for inverse clipping.

  3. Turn off Activate to leave clipping mode.
