The following checklist provides the steps to configure Cyber Integrity to allow the creation of baselines and baseline filters. This checklist guides you through the sections of this document related to these configuration tasks.

  1. Review what baselines are and how they work in Cyber Integrity. For more information, see Understanding Baseline Management and Understanding Baselines in Cyber Integrity.

  2. If you are using multiple databases, identify the configuration differences to support your environment and where you need to import and configure each asset model. For more information, see Configuring Baselines with Multiple Databases.

  3. Verify that you have imported the latest version of the PAS Cyber Integrity asset model and created the PAS CyberIntegrity asset. In addition, review the other requirements for baseline management. For more information, see Requirements for Baseline Management and the Installation Guide.

  4. If you need to import asset models, stop the PAS services on the database server or the primary database server if using multiple databases.

  5. Import the latest version of the asset model for each source asset type you will include in a baseline, such as the PAS Recon asset model, and create the assets you need. For more information, see the Implementation Guide for each type of source asset.

  6. If you have not previously imported the PAS Baselines asset model, import the latest version of this asset model using the Asset Model Development Kit. For more information, see Requirements for Baseline Management.

  7. If you have used a PAS Baselines asset model prior to version 1.6.0, work with Technical Support to update your PAS Baselines asset model to include the latest functionality. For more information, see Adding Functions to Previous PAS Baseline Asset Model Versions.

  8. If you stopped PAS services, restart them after importing asset models.

  9. Make sure you have defined an asset hierarchy for Cyber Integrity with the node required for baselines. You need to know where you want to add baseline assets within your hierarchy. For example, if you will create baselines with open ports, you need to create a node where you will add open port justifications. For more information, see Understanding and Defining Your Asset Hierarchy and Creating the Settings for Open Port Justification Node.

  10. Create the baseline type groups and hierarchical order you want. You can use the default baseline types if you choose. For more information, see Creating and Modifying Baseline Types.

  11. Create saved queries that identify the object types, properties, and references you want to include in baselines. For more information, see Creating Queries to Use for Baselines.

  12. Create filters for your baseline types. Edit the filters to add or remove properties from each object type. For more information, see Creating Baseline Filters.

  13. If you want to create baselines with open ports and the services using those ports, create the justifications for open ports. For more information, see Creating Justifications for Open Ports.

  14. Add the baselines you need, and then run the baselines to add them to your asset hierarchy. For more information, see Creating and Managing Baselines.

  15. If you need to update a baseline, create a new version of the baseline. For more information, see Baseline Versioning and Locking.
