The following steps are required to use Aspen Basic Engineering in an integrated environment:

  1. You must install Intergraph SmartPlant (Schema Component and the SmartPlant Client), delivered with SmartPlant Foundation, on each Aspen Basic Engineering client computer that will participate in the integration.

Before you install Intergraph SmartPlant (Schema Component and the SmartPlant Client), be sure to install the software prerequisites.

  2. When you use Aspen Basic Engineering in an integrated environment, the workspace needs to use a different library set than non-integrated workspaces. The SmartPlant library set has additional KBs to manipulate the Aspen Basic Engineering data, in order to assist the interaction with authoring tools. It also disables the use of clones, because clones cannot be used in an integrated environment. The library set SmartPlant can be chosen from the Create Workspace dialog box.

  3. Once created, the workspace needs to be registered with a SmartPlant Foundation plant, as described in the Aspen Basic Engineering Help.
