Before you install the PAS Topology asset model, make sure your systems are equipped with the software components required for using this asset model. For more information, see PAS Topology and Risk Analytics Requirements.

The following list provides the steps to plan for, install, and configure the PAS Topology asset model for the first time. For more information about upgrading an existing PAS Topology asset model, see Steps for Upgrading PAS Topology.

  1. Verify all computers meet (or exceed) the requirements for this version of the asset model. For more information, see PAS Topology and Risk Analytics Requirements.

  2. Become familiar with the data collection process and requirements. For more information, see Understanding Configuration Data Collection and Understanding How This Asset Model Relates to Others.

  3. Make sure you have previously imported the required asset models, created the corresponding assets, and imported data for those assets. If using multiple databases, import the models to the primary database. You also need to define your asset hierarchy with the data owner for each asset. The PAS Topology view includes only the data owners in your CyberIntegrityInventory asset hierarchy. For more information about required asset models and defining your asset hierarchy, see PAS Topology and Risk Analytics Requirements.

  4. Enable OLE automation procedures on the Integrity database. The PAS Topology asset model uses OLE automation procedures to identify and display your network components. For more information, see Enabling OLE Automation Procedures.

  5. Import the PAS Topology asset model. If using multiple databases, import the Topology, Inventory, Recon, and Network Devices asset models to the primary database. For more information, see Importing the Topology Asset Model.

  6. Run the PAS Topology sequence to process the existing data for the assets. If using multiple databases, run this sequence on the primary database. Select the Run Now option when scheduling an import to run the import immediately. For more information, see Scheduling Topology Imports.

  7. Verify the imported data to make sure the data is displayed correctly.

  8. Configure third party integrations.

For more information, see Defining Your System Settings.

  9. Check the import schedules to make sure your Network Devices and Recon data is processed as a unit so your network data remains synchronized. In general, you should import your data in the following order: Network Devices, Recon, and then Inventory items for Recon assets. The PAS Topology asset model processes newly imported data so it can represent the latest data.

After you import new data, you may need to restart the Integrity web interface to display that data in the PAS Topology view. For more information about using the Admin Utility to restart the web application, see Restarting the Web Application.
