The Load model files feature allows you to choose the model files you want to see when opening a project. We save these settings, so you don't have to do this every time you log in.
We set a threshold on the size of models you can load and will prompt you to choose the model files to load if they are over that threshold. Until you do that, you won't see the model. You choose:
-
Which model files to load right now
-
Which model files to load automatically any time you open the project
You'll also need to repeat these steps if a new file is added to the model and you want to see it. You can change your choices any time.
Model size limitations
When working with model files, it is important to note that we have set certain size limitations to improve processing time and performance. The application notifies you if the model files exceeds the size limitation.
-
Upload limitations: The maximum file size for uploading a IFC or RVT model file is 1 GB. You can upload the model files from your desktop, or from an integrated common data environment (CDE).
-
Model viewer limitations: When you want to view the models, ensure that the combined size of the models you are loading does not exceed the maximum file size allowed:
File type
Multiple file size limitation
IFC
7 GB
RVT
3 GB
Combination
(IFC and RVT)
2 GB IFC + 2 GB RVT
-
Model comparison limitations: Ensure that the combined size of the models being compared does not exceed 200 MB. Comparing large model files can degrade the performance and can also cause delays in obtaining results or executing subsequent tasks.
