If you have necessary permissions, you can modify the duration of a work package or work step. Simply drag the work package or work step bar to the required position, the application updates it’s duration automatically.

  1. Click Schedule Management > Production Planning .

  2. Adjust the Time range, View format, and Current view period as necessary.

    For more information, see View production plan.

  3. Click a work package or work step bar and from the pop-up menu of the container, you can do the following.

    View details of a work package or work step.

    Update the progress of a work package or work step.

    SHARED Tip Click the corresponding Options menu on the bar and then select the necessary option. For example, to edit a work package, select the work package and click Options > Edit.

  4. To update the duration of a work package or work step, drag the edge of the work package or work step bar to the required date.

    You cannot reduce the duration of a work package in such a way that one or more work steps goes beyond the container.

  5. Click Save and continue editing.

  • If a parent work package is closed, you cannot update the duration of the corresponding child work steps.

  • In the 1 week Time range view, you can drag a work step and adjust its duration to a specific time of the day.

What happens to the child work steps if I change the work package start date?

All the child work steps dates according to the work package start date.

  • In the production planning timeline, the application appends additional duration at the end of the work package container.

  • In the project schedule Gantt view, the application appends additional duration at the end of the work package bar.

Change the work package start date and then reduce the duration

All the child work steps dates according to the work package start date. In the production planning timeline, the work steps that extend beyond updated work package dates are shown as hanging work steps.
