Check out what's deploying soon to HxGN SDx2!
Business Administration
-
You can bulk edit in List Edit to copy a single value from an existing cell and paste it onto multiple cells in the same column, or copy a single row and paste the values across multiple rows, all with validation to stop incorrect values being applied to cells of a different column type. This allows you copy values from other sources, such as MS Excel, and apply the correct change across multiple cells or rows quickly and easily. (4479550
-
You can use Manage Related Items to relate classifications to a column set and interface definitions to a column set. This helps ensure consistent and relevant information is displayed using the related column set.
-
You can control the Recovery Scheduler by setting the maximum number for the process to retry workflow steps stuck in a workflow. Without setting a limit, the recovery scheduler may repeatedly attempt to process steps, and adversely affect system performance. On reaching this limit, stuck steps are bypassed, making the recovery process more efficient. (5153124)

All new sites have had the InfoMapExpand1to2 and InfoMapExpand2to1 relationship definition values matched to the same values as SPFRelExpand1to2 and SPFRelExpand2to1 relationship definitions. This avoids losing items from being displayed in the Info Map. Any user value changes made to objects displayed in the Info Map are retained on upgrade. (4634003)

Security around the delivered data types is being enhanced, and the default behavior for a class definition with no access groups assigned will change from being open to all to being inaccessible. To support this transition, new access groups are available to control who can view, modify, or delete object types through class definitions, and these apply only to API access without affecting any UI elements.
-
MAG_APIOpenRead - Read access to most data types
-
MAG_APISDXAdmin - Read and write access to admin and schema items
-
MAG_APISDXEdit - Read and write access to most data types
These access groups restrict actions based on user roles. Governance rules still prevent removing the delivered access groups from delivered roles or class definitions, but you can assign them to custom roles and class definitions. (4978983)

Design Tool Integration
-
Naming rules, used to generate properties like Control Name by evaluating conditions, have been enhanced to support multiple conditions. Previously, naming rules were defined with respect to the object type that represented the tag, and those types could be associated with only one condition. This enhancement allows multiple naming rules to be associated with a single object type, allowing different conditions to determine which naming rule is applied. (4198177)
-
HxGN SDx2 provides the opportunity to create your own custom correlation rules. You can also update or delete existing rules, if necessary. (4270644)
-
If a document shared from a design tool fails to load into HxGN SDx2, the status of the related load queue is also set to Failed. Previously, such failed queues were automatically resubmitted for processing when the schedule task was polled again, but with this change, we offer the option to manually resubmit the failed load queue immediately. (4446088)
-
To improve performance during bulk data transfer from design tools, such as sharing an entire plant or during project handover, you can set a scheduled task to generate instructions for the Integration Engine. (5072127)
Document and Data Management
-
The first step in the Concurrent Engineering process, the handover request, is available. The Data Books feature set has been enhanced to support creating and managing the handover request. This feature allows you to create and manage handover data books to which the completed documents that need to be merged are added. A handover request created from this handover data book is used for merging completed documents from project to the As-Built (Plant) configuration. The merge process is managed by the Handover Request workflow. This feature is the first step in the Concurrent Engineering. It supports better collaboration between engineering and operations by making sure important documents are handed over in a structured and traceable way. (4883455)
-
The Document Life Cycle viewer displays a document claimed to multiple configurations from its creation to the present revision. The viewer shows documents in each configuration across a timeline in a train line display. This allows you to easily view the status of a document object and when it was modified across multiple configuration levels at the same time using Concurrent Engineering. You can also choose and reorder the project configurations visible to you in the viewer. (4202079)
-
You can create additional document revisions from a single originating document as a set of numbered sheets. Each document sheet is named using the originating document ENS sheet sequence value. This functionality is based on the delivered CreatNextSheet method and is especially useful when you want to create additional document sheets in a sequence for your tenant for a specific reason, such as attaching a different file to each separate document sheet. (4999069)
-
You can upload a markup rendition manually if the auto-generated rendition is not as expected. This helps in actions using the markup renditions such as adding watermarks, creating workflows, and printing the markup renditions. (4914233)
-
Markup renditions can be generated in bulk for documents or files associated with a specific Plant Breakdown Structure (PBS) item such as Project, Plant, Area, and Unit. This reduces manual work in markup rendition generation. (4914248)
-
The Tags feature set allows the creation of tags, which are then merged to the Consolidated design component. (4326912)
-
Administrators can control who can download or print files in the View and Markup Control. This enhances data security. (3858773)
-
The functionalities of the View and Markup Control can now be executed on supported file types with renamed extensions through the Native file extension parameter. (4914296)
DTO: Data Capture & Smartification
-
Data Capture feature has been enhanced to extract and review tags, off-page connectors, and their relationships from documents and drawings classified other than P&ID. (3778775)
Information Browsing
-
Alix is our AI assistant designed to answer your questions and help you use HxGN SDx2. (4722297)
-
You can change your scopes more efficiently in the Scope Settings page especially when you have a large number of plants and projects in your system. The previous Settings page made it time consuming to change and locate the configurations you want to use as your Query scope, especially if you have a large number of configurations or projects. To help with this, the Scope Settings page has been redesigned and improved to display both the create and query configurations in a more intuitive and easily accessible way. (3621382)
-
You can view a hierarchical list of items using the tree view control (3931426)
-
The Query by selected Configurations only option in the scope Settings has been reworked to apply to queries that use entry points and query forms. This means that users can see plant level data when their scope is set to a project configurations to give context to what data they can see, such as viewing a change or areas and plants found on create or update forms. (4412401)

You can select the Enable Indexing option when you create or update an entry point to use the indexing functionality to help improve search performance. The indexing functionality creates an indexed datastore that can search for objects by name much faster than the as-built search functionality. By default, Indexing is automatically enabled for document and tag entry points. You can also reindex failed and missing objects as well as compare objects with the as-built datastore. Please contact support for any further help with configuring the indexing functionality. (4377558)
-
An index failure notification informs you when one or more objects fail indexing. An error message is added to the details for each failed object so you can determine why it failed, correct the issue, and select the required reindexing option. (4377558)
-
Indexing and re-indexing has been updated to support the distributed plant changes in HxGN SDx2. Previously objects were retrieved from all configurations for indexing. Now objects are retrieved from the new plant domain tables from each configuration individually. (4377558)
-
Newly created or updated objects are now prioritized for indexing to ensure the immediate availability of these objects in search results. The indexing operation works asynchronously and prioritizes the indexing of new or updated objects to maintain data consistency and minimize search latency. (4377558)
-
We have introduced an Indexing Scheduler to combine multiple change sets coming from consolidation into a single batch of 10K objects before raising an event to start the indexing process. This helps reduce the number of indexing events and enhances performance for systems with multiple tenants during high system loads. (4377558)
-
We have introduced a Reindexing Scheduler to automatically reindex all objects that failed or were missed during the indexing process. This keeps the read indexed datastore data in synchronization with the write-datastore. (4377558)
-
Document and tag entry points are delivered out-of-the-box with a new system and have the Enable Indexing option turned on by default. Indexing is automatic for these entry points and cannot be switched off. (4377558)
-
You can turn on the Switch to Standard query option in the information bar to view any missing indexed objects. This option uses the standard as-built search functionality, and so search performance is much slower to return object data. (4377558)
-
The ribbon of action shortcut icons has been updated so that it displays when you hover over any part of a highlighted object row in a results grid. (5046859)
-
Additional object types can be searched for using Advanced Search. These include incoming, outgoing, and internal variations of actions, submittals, technical queries, and transmittals. (5027814)
Project Collaboration and work processes
-
A mechanism has been introduced to restrict workflow schedulers to only process two tasks at a time between the set scheduler polling interval. Previously the workflow scheduler processed as many tasks as it could find. Now this mechanism limits the tasks for a single tenant to improve performance. When a scheduler reaches the next polling cycle and the previous tasks are complete, it picks up the next two tasks for processing and processes them as expected asynchronously. (4173046)
-
Workflow instances are now configuration controlled and separated by plant using the class definitions for each workflow instance. Previously, all workflow instance steps were processed together just to fetch the ToDo List items for a specific configuration. By separating the workflows by plant configuration, the performance of your ToDo List with large datasets is improved as the To Do List only loads the workflow steps that are relevant to the configurations or plants you select in scopes. (4836697)
-
When creating a new incoming transmittal, the form automatically applies default values to streamline the process:
-
Security Code is set to Unclassified.
-
Item Owning Group defaults to Engineer.
-
The Discipline field now displays only the disciplines relevant to the user's configuration.
While these defaults help speed up data entry, you can modify any of them as needed to suit your specific requirements. (4946307)
-
-
When you download the contents of an outgoing transmittal, the files are organized in a clear and intuitive folder structure. The downloaded ZIP file is named after the transmittal and includes a subfolder for each distributed document, labeled with the document’s title or number. Inside each document’s folder, files are grouped by format type:
-
Native source files – such as datasheet.xlsx, drawing.dwg, instruction.docx, and datasheet.pdf
-
PDF renditions – including versions like datasheet.xlsx.pdf and drawing.dwg.pdf
-
QA feedback – consolidated in a QA Review Response PDF
This structure allows you to quickly locate specific documents and file formats without needing to open each file individually. (4946307)
-
Visualization & 3D Design Review
-

This capability streamlines navigation of complex models and simplifies the generation of visual intelligence reports by leveraging AI and natural language processing. (5110991)
-
In the view and markup control, Black and White Display Controls are available on the Markup Toolbar. (4468732)
-
Viewing and navigating large linearized PDFs in the View and Markup Control has improved markup accuracy and display stability. You can view markups immediately, once each page is fully loaded, and the markups will display in the correct position (4989927).
-
Apryse WebViewer enables you to open multiple PDFs or PDF renditions simultaneously in new browser tabs. This enhancement streamlines the markup and review process by allowing you to switch between documents without exiting and re-entering the tool. (4801671)
-
You can copy and paste images from your clipboard directly into a editable markup layer. (5020122)
-
View and markup offers configurable custom stamp options to suit your needs. (3334027)
-
You can adjust the width of the stamps and symbols panel to display more items at once, making it easier to browse and select the desired stamp or symbol. (4825160)
-
Apryse WebViewer has been upgraded from version 11.2.0 to 11.8.0. This major update unblocks and resolves several view and markup control bugs. (5204106)
