What is the process for upgrading my system to the latest version of CFIHOS?

By default, the latest CFIHOS schema is available in the SDx starter database. However, you must use the CFIHOS Upgrade Wizard in the Server Manager to upgrade to the latest schema and other components. This is an optional process.

Upgrading your system to the latest version of the CFIHOS standard is a three-step process. You cannot use the latest CFIHOS version mappings till you complete the three-step process.

  1. Enable CFIHOS Compatibility - Ensure your site is CFIHOS compatible. For more information, see Enable CFIHOS compatibility for a site.

  2. Upgrade your CFIHOS site - Use the CFIHOS Upgrade wizard in the Server Manager to upgrade your site with the latest CFIHOS upgrades. After the upgrade, the CFIHOS schema is enabled, and the CFIHOS admin items like forms, sections, methods, access groups, column sets, column items, and mappings are upgraded with the latest version changes. These changes could be additions, deletions, or modifications to the CFIHOS items. After this step, you can see the latest version mappings in the Data Validator Administration module. But they are not activated in the Web Client Load Manager till you carry out the third step.

  3. Upgrade your CFIHOS mappings - The final step in upgrading your CFIHOS mappings to the latest version is accomplished in the Data Validator Administration module. For more information, see Upgrade CFIHOS mappings to the latest version.

The Server Manager CFIHOS Upgrade Wizard allows you to optionally upgrade your database to the latest version of CFIHOS. You can also create a backup of the CFIHOS database before the upgrade begins. For more information on recommended backups, see Prepare for the upgrade.

The CFIHOS Upgrade Wizard compiles a list of available upgrade paths based on the version of CFIHOS that is consistent with the data in the selected site. When you start the CFIHOS Upgrade Wizard, the software reads a control file that defines the available upgrades. The control file, CFIHOSUpgradeControls.xml, is delivered to the CFIHOS subfolder of the product installation folder. For example, [Installation Drive]:\Program Files\SDx\SPFServerManager\CFIHOS.

For more information on the CFIHOS Upgrade Wizard options, see CFIHOS Upgrade Wizard.

  1. In the SDx Server Manager, right-click a site and click Tools > CFIHOS Upgrade Wizard from the quick menu.

The CFIHOS Upgrade Wizard automatically compiles a list of available upgrade paths based on the version of CFIHOS that is consistent with the data in the selected site.

  3. In the CFIHOS Upgrade Options page, select the actions you would like the Upgrade Wizard to perform and click Next.

    • To upgrade and transform your data, click Upgrade data in the database.

      • To back up your database, click Back up database before upgrade and enter or browse to the location where you want the backup files to be saved.

  4. In the Ready to Upgrade CFIHOS window, review the scripts that the Upgrade Wizard is preparing to execute and click Next.

    • Critical errors cause the upgrade to stop. Click Back to make changes to your upgrade selections.

    • Non-critical errors are logged, but the upgrade continues.

  5. In the CFIHOS Upgrade Results window, click Finish to view the log file.

Server Manager logs every action it performs in a log file called CFIHOSUpgradeWizardlog[date]-[time].xml saved in the temp directory under the default root path for the site. For example, [Drive]:\SDx Server Files\Temp\ServerManager\[SiteName].
