Why should I evaluate the feasibility of a change request?

Once a change request is created, the feasibility of the request can be evaluated. If one or more users can carry out the task, claim the step first and then evaluate it. You can review the impact analysis and identify the potential conflicts of the submitted change request.

  1. Select Evaluate feasibility in your To Do List, and then select Evaluate Change on the Actions menu.

    • Select Update to assign a project to your change and implement the changes at the project level.

    • Select Manage Documents or Manage Tags to relate a document or tag to the change request. For more information, see Relate documents and tags to the change request given below.

    • Select Manage Markup Layers to choose the markup layers to include in the consolidated files of the change request. For more information, see Manage markup layers.

    • Use Potential Impacts and Potential Conflicts to Analyze the impact of the requested change.

  2. Select:

    • Approve to complete the evaluation step and send it to the next step.

If this is a temporary change request, a merged PDF rendition of the change request is created, including markups.

    • Rework to return the change to the Prepare Change Request step for the originator to make additional changes.

    • The rejection reason is displayed on the Prepare Change page so that the originator can see why it was rejected.

    • When a change request is sent for rework at the Evaluate feasibility step, a new revision of the change request is created.

    • Reject Change to reject the change request and send it to the Completion Notice step. For more information, see Rejecting a change request.

  3. If you selected Reject Change or Rework, enter the reason.

  • If you open the document in the View and Markup page (and it is a published Hexagon model that has been transferred to the Facilities Data Warehouse using Data Validator), you can select Show repeated results VIRShowRepeatedResultsButton in the Visual Intelligence panel to group and view tags belonging to more than one change request. For more information, see Using visual intelligence to analyze your data.

  • If the change request has any ongoing actions, internal change actions, technical queries, or transmittals, you cannot use Reject Change.

  • After the Evaluate feasibility step, a merged PDF rendition of the change request is created, including markups and attached files. This PDF rendition is available for the change request even after it is closed.
