Markup layers are listed in the Markup Layers Manager panel, where you can:

  • Create, edit, consolidate, copy, or delete markup layers.

  • Add, delete, and edit annotations and Action pins.

  • View a list of elements belonging to each markup layer.

  • Select which markup layers you want to view or edit.

  • Lock or unlock markup layers, which disables or enables the markup layer for editing, deleting, and consolidating.

What are markup layers?

Markup layers are database objects that are related to the PDF rendition of a file. Each markup layer can contain multiple annotation elements that are used to add extra information, such comments, embedded callouts, or stamps and other graphical details.

For example, isometric file types have custom file extensions such as .i01, .i02, and .i03 for the .dgn native file extension. Custom file extensions such as t01, t02, and t03 use the .tif native file extension. For more information, see Configuring custom file extensions.
