Cost modifiers are defined on the warranty record for applying specified percentage values to the WO Cost field calculations performed for any warranty claim record for which Work Order and the Warranty is specified.

For example, if the actual internal labor cost is $500 for the Work Order, Activity, or Job, but the Warranty specifies that only 80% of internal labor costs can be recouped on the warranty claim, the WO Labor value displayed on this screen will be $400 instead of $500. If no Warranty reference is made on a warranty claim specifying a Work Order, Work Order Activity or Job, there will be no applicable cost coefficient for the system to apply, so the system assumes the coefficient to be 100%; in other words, in the example above, the WO Labor value displayed on this screen will indeed be the actual labor cost for the Work Order, Work Order Activity or Job, or $500. Again, any costs retrieved for a Work Order will only be retrieved for "warrantable" activities and/or jobs.

In addition to the cost modifier fields, the following "fixed" fields exist:

  • Fixed Labor Rate - The Fixed Labor Rate field, when populated, will change the cost calculation so that the specified rate is used rather than the rate of the labor transactions. This impacts Labor (internal), Hired Labor (ST) and Hours for Service (SH) calculations. It will not impact Fixed Price (SF) calculations and the actuals will be used instead.

  • Fixed Labor Amount - The Fixed Labor Amount field, when specified, will change the cost calculation so that the specified amount is used rather than the labor transactions themselves. This will apply to each activity/job associated to the claim. The amount will be credited to the WO Labor field.

  • Fixed Material Amount - The Fixed Material Amount field, when specified, will change the cost calculation so that the specified amount is used rather than the material transactions themselves. This will apply to each activity/job associated to the claim. The amount will be credited to the WO Stock field.

Warranty Claims for work performed on any equipment on a multiple equipment work order may be created in the same way they are today. The Related Work Order number associated with the child equipment will be selected on the claim along with the child equipment code.
