On the Service Categories screen, you can maintain categorizations for your service codes. The Service Category is used as an integral part and level in both Department Structure and SDM validation methods. For Simplified SDM the relationship does not depend on the supplier or department and therefore the applicable service codes can be entered on the Service Code tab of this screen.
If you intend to use the Service Request Portal, you must use the Service Category in your setup. On the portal, to make service selection easier, the contact must select a category before selecting a service code.
